Jillie Bean's Christmas Party

Yep, Jill sure knows how to throw a party. We were greeted at the door with a hug (and grope) as she lifted me up off the floor. Then we were forced to take jello shots. Ahhhhh...my kind of host!

Those PAMI girls (past & present) sure look hot!

birthday goings ons

Yep, I'm officially 28. I don't feel like I'm in my "late 20's"...but I guess I am. The girls at work got me a cake and a gift on Wednesday and on my actual birthday (Saturday the 3rd) my hubby took me to Outback for a late lunch and to get some accessories for my fabulous new camera. Then we went listen to a great band Saturday night. It was nice...here are some pics for your viewing pleasure...

Here are some of my latest jewelry creations. I made these at the request of some customers looking for custom Christmas presents...I hope they like!

a man & his dog...

Getting into the Christmas Spirit

giving thanks in the great outdoors

Well we had a wonderful long holiday weekend. After a night out with friends Wednesday night, we went eat at my parents for Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday. We had a fairly traditional dinner but with chicken instead of turkey...I know, I know...but it was my father's idea. I made the rice dressing, stuffing, baked mac & cheese and cranberry sauce...everything else was up to my father. After having thanksgiving leftovers for supper, we went to BR to visit with Lindsey & Marcus and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate at Starbucks where I bought a fabulous Christmas CD. I got to feel the baby...even though he was playing posum, I felt his little butt and his little elbow poking out. I must admit I felt a little fever...briefly...but it was fever none the less. One day...one day. Then Friday we were off to the woods, to grandmother's house we go. Ok so it was David's great grandmother's cabin. He laughs everytime I call it "the cabin", but that is what it is, an old cabin on achers of woodlands with a nice pond within walking distance down the trails. We got roast marshmellows, drink hot chocolate, David got to shoot his gun, we told stories and looked at old pictures. It was nice. Then, once back in civilization, we went to my brother's to pick up my new camera he had so graciously gotten for me when he discovered that this fabulous 6.1 mega pix/ 3X Zoom Kodak camera was on sale for half the price I was gonna pay for it. SWEET!

mmmmmm....Thanksgiving prep

This year I made homemade cranberry sauce and the berries were so pretty & colorful in the pot that I had to take picture. And boy were they tasty! We ate a whole jar of it with our meal! I can see this is going to be a tradition that is expected for years to come.

Yep, I'm done! The 2005 craftshow season is over...well for me at least. I have sold a lot, worked a lot and lost a lot of sleep and now I can focus on the holidays & scrapbooking. Here are a few pics from the this weekend's show.

Friday, November 18, 2005

Well here we are...the Broadmoore Arts & Craftshow...the BIGUN! I have been preparing like a mad woman and I'm still not ready. It is supposed to be blistering cold tonight and the cold is about the only thing I'm prepared for. I bought hand and foot warmers like the hunters use in the woods, I have a hat, gloves and long johns...I think I'll be OK! As for the experience of Broadmoore, a crafter once asked me for some tips...here are my comments:

I've done Broadmoore for about six years and things have gotten a lot better with regards to random acts of insanity. Always prepare for rain and lots of it and don't bother complaining about it to anyone who runs the show because their standard answer is "We can't control the weather"...we heard that at least 72 times last year. And no they don't cancel and no they don't return money. Bring hay, bring tarps bring tents, bring extra shoes, bring battery powered lights so when your tent loses electricity the shoppers can still see. Yes, we have needed all of these things and no, we didn't have most of them when we needed them. Don't mark reduce your prices during the show, make darn sure you made everything you are selling and never leave your car parked in the unloading lot. It will rain, the lights will go out but the people will still be there and they will still be buying. It is the weirdest, most bizarre thing I have ever seen. I have seen people pushing baby strollers through ankle deep mud, people on crutches, in wheel chairs and even on oxygen...yes on oxygen...SHOPPING! It is exhausting, terrible and great all at the same time. Does that make any sense? All I can say is come prepared and well rested and be ready for a long, bumpy but profitable ride. At least you have Sunday to rest.

I have been instructed to make at least 20 necklace and earring sets for this weekend. Last night I made 7...I think that is a record for me! Now I just have to keep banging them out at that rate. Since we have to go set up Thursday night and the show starts Friday, I only have two more days left....AGGGHHHH! I am exhausted! Plus, I'm trying to make up time so I'm getting up early and staying late at my "day job" so my craft time has been cut way short. And...to do his part, my daddy (being the sweet, sweet man he is) cooked supper for us last night and says he is going to make us a chicken stew tonight. He said I need to focus on making my stuff and I don't have time to cook this week. Just this weekend, I sold like 15 necklace sets and I think Broadmoore is going to be way more busy than that...at least I hope! So here I am, sleep deprived, achy back, messy house, piles of laundry, dirty bathroom and beads everywhere! I'm getting too old for this!

Sunday, Rainy Sunday...

Yep, that is the Destrahan crowd...huddled under the the porch of the house when the rain came. Despite the rain, the Destrahan show was a success! It seems that this was the first "normal" thing these people have been a part of in a long time. It was almost like they were comfort buying. Whatever the reason, we saw a lot of happy faces and a lot of green! Woo Hoo! I was kind worried after slow sales on Saturday, but Sunday well made up for it...rain and all.

A Rootin' Tootin' Good Time

Yep, the invitations were right, we did indeed have rootin' tootin' good time and the grub was indeed hearty. This baby shower rocked! There was more BBQ than you can shake a stick at and all the trimming to go along with it. Not to mention the precious themed decor!

Lindsey was thrilled and very surprised that we were able to make it. She told me we shouldn't surprise a pregnant woman....then she told me she was contracting! Thankfully, the excitement wore off! And the baby book...well, lets just say it was a big hit. I think the word she used to describe it was exquisite. I'll take that. Exquisite is good!

And not to be left out, Marcus sported his very on receiving blanket! Now he too is totally prepared to be a first time father.

Ok James Neil...I'm Ready For Ya!

Well finally I have finished little James Neil Whitty's baby book. Lindsey will be so surprised when I show up to her shower tomorrow with the completed book for her. Oh I'm so in love with it! This is just the first page of the precious little book...Click on "My Layouts" under My Links to see the rest of my favorite pages. Ok, now I have to scoot on to bed...I've got a busy weekend ahead of me. Tomorrow we are going to Lindsey's baby shower then to an announcement party for a couple that is getting married in January. I guess my dashing husband & I have to make a appearance since he is the best man in the wedding. I still think they only asked him because he will look good in the wedding pics! *Wink, Wink* LOL! Then we have to go to Destrehan for my craftshow. Thank GOD for mom and dad...they will be holding it down at Destrehan Saturday so we can attend our other engagements! Well I'm going to bed to dream of a productive morning of beading tomorrow, our many social appearances and all that money I am hoping for from the show this weekend.

the ol' girl just aint what she used to be

I got my car back but the ol' girl just aint what she used to be. Now the decision...should we keep it or trade it in before the wreck shows up on Carfax. AGGHHHH! I hate this! I love my car and we have paid on it for 3 years. If I trade it in now we have to start all over with a new car, not to mention I have to make another decision...what car do I want? SH#T BALLS!

Martha is the Devil

Yep. Martha is the Devil. I made the fatal mistake of purchasing the new Martha Stewart Living Magazine...you know, the Thanksgiving edition. Well, needless to say I can actually feel myself becoming more obsessive compulsive. After reading this stupid little magazine, I now want to bake a beautiful turkey with all the trimmings, organize my spices, label my serving pieces and bake pies. No Martha, it's not a good thing! And just when I thought it couldn't get any worst, I got the new Keepsakes magazine and now I am on creative overload! I can't stand it! I want to cook, scrapbook, make Christmas presents and lets not forget that the two biggest craft shows I do are this weekend and next weekend and no, I'm not ready. I need to make jewelry and lots of it. But thanks to these stupid magazines, all I want to do I cook, organize and scrapbook! CRAP! I HATE YOU MARTHA and the Keepsakes Magazine people too!

Destrehan Plantation Craft Show

Yep, it's craft show season and this will be my second to last show of the season. This weekend we will be at Destrehan Plantation showing our wares...Jewelry that is. As usual, we are hoping for good weather, lots of people and lots of sales! The show is Saturday and Sunday...hope to see you there!

On a personal note, no I don't have my car back. Yes I'm getting really annoyed and no, I DON'T wanna be a grown up anymore.

Weekend Scrappin'

This weekend I scrapped with the "Westside Scrappers" and although I didn't get much done, we had fun and were able to be creative. This is the latest of the effer dares...#14. The theme was womanhood and the first thing that popped into my head was this picture of my fabulous new shoes. The journaling reads "Womanhood is fabulous shoes". Below are my scrappin' partners Nikki & Laura...thanks for the company ladies! It was fun.

Kid Stuff...Retro David

Ok, as most of you know, I like to participate in the "effer dares" on www.twopeasinabucket.com" Well, this was effer dare #11 (yes, I realize it is late). The dare was to pick a funny photo of you, your child or your spouse and list five random memories or tidbits...here is my stab at the dare. I really had fun with it and I think it is my favorite yet.

Brew it up!

Well the road trip mini vacation book class was a big hit. This week we will be making a mini book out of coffee filters...yes coffee filters. You just have to see this one to believe it. IT IS PRECIOUS!

We will use fab papers and yummy ribbons to make this funky, retro, totally fabulous book! I can't wait!

Tuesday, October 11, 2005

Well here it is...the sample for my Road Trip Travel Journal class that I will be teaching at Scrapbook Solutions Saturday. I am super excited about this book. I love the colors and all the textures...it's fab! It has textured card stock, ribbons, stamping, patterned papers, textured papers, raffia, brads and more!

Beading Frenzy

The race is on. What race you may ask...well the race to replenish my stock and make more, more, more for my upcoming craft shows. I've only had one of my four shows this fall and I am all ready wiped out! Here are some of my latest creations.

And so the Booing begins. Tomorrow I will beging the booing tradition that a dear, former co-worker started a few years ago at my old job at P&N. Thanks Robyn for the inspiration! You see, you boo two people at your work and leave them a candy care package, a halloween poem and instructions on how to continue the booing and it sort of takes on a life of it's own. It's really fun to see how the tradition evolves and how creative people get. This is my boo mini buckets!

Beauty Queen...

Ok, so she wasn't the queen. But my sweet niece Mya is the queen in our hearts. This Sunday she was in the Acadian Festival Pagant and placed as runner up in her age group. Not bad little one...not bad at all!

Damaged Goods...

Yep, the Mazda is now damaged goods. Here she is...my sad, sad car. In case you are wondering what happened...apparently I "disreguarded a red light" (at least that's what the ticket said). You see, I didn't mean to run the red light...really. Well, none of that matters now. The fact is that I am just not fit to be an adult, hell, I can't even balance my checkbook! I just don't want to be a grown up anymore!

Fall Is Here!

I don't know what I love more...the decorations, the cooler weather, the craft shows or the thought that the Thanksgiving spread is just around the corner. Today I brushed off the fall wreath and hung it for all the world to see. HAPPY FALL!

Prego Anyone?

There she is on all her pregnant glory...Sugar Butt herself...my dear friend, LINDSEY! Yep, she came into town as a Houston evacuee of Hurricane Rita and left with a whole heep of darling Gap baby clothes from the outlet...go figure! Leave it to Lindsey to make the best of a bad situation.

You're An Animal

Well this is my new favorite project! I made this mini 6X6 book for a class at Scrapbook Solutions in Baton Rouge. Isn't it adorable! The class is Saturday, Oct. 8th for anyone interested...sign up now since space is limited.

Saturday Fun

After a very successful craftshow (sold lots of jewelry!...woo hoo!), we went out for a night on the town. But we were angels. Promise.

What do you do when you have no lights?

Well I'll tell you what I did...SCRAP! Whoo Hoo! I scrapped and scrapped and organized my scrapbook supplies and scrapped! Minus the whole no air condition, no microwave and no TV, it was a blast! Hurricane Rita was no match for my skills! Here is a sample of some of the things I did...

Sunday, September 25, 2005

We needed a night out...

Well, now that Rita is history...(hopefully no more suprise hurricanes!) we had to have some adult beverages! We went out and had a good'ol time. I can't say that we were "good" but we did have a good time! Yummy drinks, good friends, fabulous old school music and our own little table in a crowded sports bar...It doesn't get any better that this.
