What do you do when you have no lights?

Well I'll tell you what I did...SCRAP! Whoo Hoo! I scrapped and scrapped and organized my scrapbook supplies and scrapped! Minus the whole no air condition, no microwave and no TV, it was a blast! Hurricane Rita was no match for my skills! Here is a sample of some of the things I did...

We needed a night out...

Well, now that Rita is history...(hopefully no more suprise hurricanes!) we had to have some adult beverages! We went out and had a good'ol time. I can't say that we were "good" but we did have a good time! Yummy drinks, good friends, fabulous old school music and our own little table in a crowded sports bar...It doesn't get any better that this.

Scrapbook Teaching Debut

They Liked me...they really liked me! Ok so I knew all eight students in the class...so yes...they liked me. But hopefully as things get back to "normal" around Baton Rouge, class registration will pick up. Anyway, this is the project we made in the class. It was a paper bag book make with Basic Gray papers. It looks so cute when you add your pictures and journaling! I love this little books!

Up for the challenge...

I'm very proud of this layout that I did for a dare/challenge on www.twopeasinabucket.com. The dare was from a group called the "effers" and it was to use the writings of the poet Silverstein to create a layout. I choose his poem "Rain" and decided to do a layout on the hurricane and all the rain it brough to the City of New Orleans. It sucks that I have to keep calling it "Katrina", as if it is human or something. But anyways, I was very pleased with the finished layout.

I finished all the dares and posted them today...my how productive I can be when I don't have to go to work!

A Day of Zen

Ahhhhhh! After the worst last days of my old job, I pampered myself today. I started my day by getting a snazzy new hair cut, then went to lunch with a dear friend to a fabulous deli where I had the most wonderful California club. After lunch I proceeded to get a warm stone massage - compliments of my sweet, sweet husband {Thank you David!}. Ohhhhh, what a wonderful experience! Then, I hopped on the interstate and beat the traffic home. Once home, I cuddled up on the sofa and had a relaxing cup of spiced tea while I watched the cooking goddess that is Rachael Ray on Food Network. All in all, I would say I had a pretty good day! I feel so honored...I would like to thank my hairstylist, Alexis; my massage therapist, Jennifer and most of all, my husband, David who without him, none of this would have been possible. Oh, and I would like to thank the fans. Ok, so I have no fans...but they say it on tv in all those cheesy acceptance speeches...it just felt right...OK?!

What's Up?

Well to say I've been busy is an understatement! Between helping my parents get their home ready to accept a New Orleans family and keeping my household going, I've been scrapping my little heart out! I know that sounds strange that with all this going on that I'm scrapping, but it makes me happy and right now that's all I want is a little sunshine in my life. With all the horrible images on TV right now, I have just turned to scrapbooking for a fun and creative outlet. Early in the morning before I go to assist my parents and late at night after I'm done helping, I've been scraping...as you can see from the picture...I've got a lot of pages done! I'm officially addicted to 8X8 pages. They ROCK!

Moments in Time - I Love New Orleans

This layout is my tribute to New Orleans...Let me start by saying GOD BLESS NEW ORLEANS! As I tuned into the 24 hour Baton Rouge news coverage of the war field that has become of New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina, I desided that I needed to scrap some photos of the last time we went into the city this past March. The Journaling reads...These photos were taken in March 2005. Now, in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, these pictures hold more meaning than ever before. It breaks my heart to know that it will be months if not years before I can see this beloved city again. Please pray for New Orleans, it's people and the surrounding areas like Baton Rouge that are now flooded with people and crime from this huge evacuated city.

Katrina's Fury!

Fortunatly we all weathered hurricane Katrina fairly well. My parents got some damage to their home when a tree fell on it but that is minor compaired to the loss that most New Orleans area families are feeling right now. Thank God we have each other! God Bless all the homeless.
