Date Night Pre-Halloween Fun

Thursday night was date night for me and Zane. We had tons of fun stuff lined up and we had a blast!

First we went to the store and picked out a pumpkin.

Then we had a little photo shoot when we got home.

Next on the schedule...pumpkin decorating...
And finally, rice crispy treats!
*I think he liked this process* LOL
And the final product...pumpkin shaped of coarse!

Ok, I'll be back to post trick or treat pics!

Finding Balance...

I'm struggling lately. To find balance that is.
I give myself the freedom to skip the house work or delay bringing the movies back or running errands so I can spend that last precious hour of daylight outside on the swing set with my son or taking a four wheeler ride around the block with him and David. But I've been finding it really hard to find balance between it all lately. I know you can't do it all but lately I feel like if I am doing anything with out my family I feel like I am wasting precious time. Perhaps it was David's illness or the hurricane fiasco I have no idea...but I just want to spend all my time loving and nurturing my relationships with them. I feel almost like something has changed inside of me. I never really had that instant motherly bond that women talk about when they look at their newborn baby, I felt more obligation and responsibility than anything....and that really took by by surprise. But gradually I began to feel it and lately it's been on overload. So tonight is date night. For Zane and I. We will make rice crispy treats and decorate pumpkins. I thought about carving a pumpkin but since he is still a little young, a dear friend of mine recommended painting pumpkins (thanks Elizabeth!). Should be interesting!

Ok, so 365's for the week...

That's all folks!

Dracula's Ball was a haunting delight

I could describe and explain and give details but the pictures are what you really want. Right?
It was pretty spooky!
The party was at a local plantation complete with it's very own spooky "dungeon". It was such a perfect place for such a party!

And these two had the best costume in my opinion. A big 'ol dude like this dressed in a sexy nurse costume AND heels...I mean that is just hillarious.
And the hosts, John and Laurie Morgan. Talk about hillarious. Leave it to a professional comedian to throw such a bash.

Ok, so I'm pooped. Today I took a day of vacation to stay home and work on "the room"....AKA, my craftroom/office that I could even walk in. Yes, it was THAT bad. I made some good progress but still have tons to do to get it functional again. I'm thinking of buying a sewing machine once I get my work table all cleaned up. Any thoughts on a cheap machine that will work well for small projects and paper crafts?

Boo at the Zoo

Had a great day at the zoo Saturday...here is the cliff notes version in pictures...

Zane was a scare crow...minus the hat. He did NOT like that hat. Wouldn't even let us put it on him to take a picture!
We enjoyed our family time just hanging out and being us. I've cherished these moments so much lately.
Zane admired the animals, some of the larger ones he admired more from a far! LOL!
The weather was beautiful but the fall photo ops were few and far between...this was one of the only areas set up that we could stop and take cute fall pics. I HAVE to find us a pumpkin patch!
Checking out the flamingos...we have a picture identical to this from last year so that makes this one even cuter.
Then we came to the elks and deer. He kept saying "paw paw's horse". LOL! Apparently they look a lot alike to him.
Oh and then there was the petting zoo. I think he liked that the best. He did great with the goats and loved feeding them.

The above picture was captured after I said "Hey Zane, you want some candy?" That is pretty much the only way we could get him to look at the camera all day! LOL!

That last picture is one of my favs from the day. I love how his costume legs are pulled up. I love how he is peeking around the corner at the animals. I just love the whole feeling of it.
I'll post pictures from Dracula's ball that occured later Saturday night. We did indeed have a ball! I must warn you though, the pictures are a little...ummm, wild. he he!

Thrifting rocks my world

Ok, so I've always been a thrifter. Well on my last outing I scored big time!
BCBG leather pumps...nice shoes are rare for me to find since I have a freakishly small size 5 foot.

And THIS beauty...my very own Louie. *sigh*

So scrappage...here are a couple pages I did with my Masters kit.
And finally 365's...

Well that's all for now. I've got to find me a halloween costume for Dracula's Ball tomorrow night! Full weekend ahead!

War hits close to home...

We all know that the war continues in Iraq but yesterday I saw something that really put it into perspective for me. I mean, I have no family or loved ones over there and I don't watch the world news much so I'm guilty of being in my own little world. Other than knowing that the fighting continues, I don't know much else about what's going on over there.

Well yesterday I saw this.

If you are a scrapper you most likely have heard of Staphanie Howell. I had the pleasure of meeting and hanging out with this amazing woman a little over a year ago in Birmingham but didn't fully understand the impact of her husband, Jimmy's military background until now. My heart goes out to her. Please keep Stephanie and her family in your thoughts.

What goes up must come down

For Sale: Small Outdoor Remote Control Plane. Why? See pictures below...

Plane goes up...
Plane goes down...
Zane goes off...
Plane goes bye bye. LOL!

So mommy distracted him with a nature hunt...

Disaster averted.

Who needs a title anyway?

So here is my no title post...
This is one of the reasons I'm so happy it's fall.
Shrimp and Corn soup. Easy peasy!
2 cans cream of potato
1 can cream corn
1 can sweet corn (undrained)
1 cup milk
Cajun Seasoning (to taste)
1/2 pound boiled shrimp (pealed)
Combine all and heat through, stiring frequently. And you are all done. Easy. Right? And so good! I serve it with herb cheese toast. MmmmmMMMM.

And now, 365's...

All for now ladies and gigglefins!
