Mommy Summer Camp

So this summer I decided that since Zane is such a routine oriented kid, I thought he would enjoy some more structured activities.

When I saw how much he enjoyed a week of the YMCA summer camp he attended I was conflicted.  Pay a huge amount of money to send him to a camp that I know he enjoys.  But then on the other hand, it's seems like such  a waste because I'm home and could do something for him myself that I'm sure he would enjoy.  So that's exactly what I decided to attempt.  And Mommy Summer Camp was born.

We do all sorts of fun stuff!  We have a simple curriculum dotted with activities, projects, arts and crafts, learning worksheets, games and experiments.  We do reading time and play time and just enjoy each other.  We take breaks and have snacks and works so well!  It almost makes me think I could do this homeschooling thing.  ALMOST.

In this picture we were making our own paint!  (you can see how here) He had a blast!  Pinterst is your best friend for projects like this;)

Gone Hollywood

Well Plaquemine has gone Hollywood!!  Yep, our little town hosted a movie!  Well it wasn't the first and certainly won't be the last but it was exciting;)
This one was called Pawn Shop Chronicals staring Brendan Fraser, the star of the Mummy blockbuster hit movies.  The picture below is him arriving on set (in the Elivs costume).
They were filming right across the street from my shop!  Here they were taking a break and going in the Orleans on the Avenue for lunch;)  Brendan looks like he is giving a bit of an interview as he walks.

A few days later my friend sent me this pic that was taken on set at a church in Port Allen...PAUL WALKER!  In PORT ALLEN!  *le sigh*  Why oh why could Paul Walker be across the street from my shop in Plaquemine?  Oh well.  LOL!
I can't wait for the movie to come out, sounds interesting;)

These are the moments...

It was Friday and a beautiful summer morning.  I packed the boys up and headed out to the zoo to meet a friend and her son.  These are the moments...the moments that I am truely thankful for.
So in true Sanders fashion we piled on the train and enjoyed the ride.
The fun continued when we got home and an afternoon shower rolled in.  Zane suited up in his rain gear and had fun with a little playin' in the rain!

Daddy Swim Camp

Just a little montage of swim pics I took at Jellystone this weekend.
This was the very first time Zane has been in the "big" pool at Jellystone.  He has been totally afraid before.  So David was doing a little Daddy swim camp with him.  I think it's time for some swim lessons!
But Liam...well he had better things to do...

Camping Memories

You know my boy Zane loves him some Yogi Bear...
So now we are getting little brother involved too!  Liam is loving going to Jellystone too!
They enjoyed it all this weekend, including playing in the sand;)
Zane even got in a round of putt putt even though it was crazy hot!
And since it was Yogi's birthday we made him a cake!  And it we won 2nd place in the cake contest!!  Woo Hoo!!
